We were pleased as punch to participate in Styled for Good this spring! The event took place on May 12th at Aria in Downtown Minneapolis. It's the second year we've participated, not to mention, our very own Catherine is on the board of directors, no big deal.
Styled for Good is a non-profit organization that connects people in need with local event vendors. All of the proceeds from the event went towards services for those most in need. Its also a new take on the traditional wedding show experience. Instead of individual booths for each vendor, teams are put together and collaborate on creating unique experiences that showcase the talent everyone involved. It's a ton of fun, with food, drink and a dance floor with live music. It's the most fun you can have at a wedding show anywhere! The theme for this years event was Palm Springs, and our group was all about a poolside cocktail hour. Maybe it was the chilly Minneapolis spring, but all we could think about was sitting poolside in a sundress with ice cold drink in hand.
We pulled inspiration from patterned cement tiles and bright pops of color from the 60's era Palm Springs. We looked at everything from hotel lobbies and bar carts to bathing beauties and cabanas to gather ideas.
To give a modern update to a retro theme, we re-created the tile pattern with blind deboss to give the paper a subtle texture while the combination of calligraphy and clean fonts gave a nod to retro Palm Springs travel posters.
We could not get enough of the hot red we used across all the pieces. We especially loved the way it mixed with the soft blush paper! It felt so fresh!
