Craving Color

I’ve been heads down lately finishing client work and designing the next greeting card collection. I’m excited about how it’s coming together because it’s just what I’ve been craving lately and that is lots and lots of saturated colors.

I’ve been researching this desire for color and have found that I am not alone. I came across 2 interesting articles that I thought I would share. They both provide inspiration for how I’m thinking about the next collection.

The first article is from the Wall Street Journal and it’s about how more fashion brands are focused on being associated with a color. Think Tiffany blue or Bottega Veneta green. If you follow fashion like I do, you may have noticed that Valentino went all in on pink this year.

The second article from Departures is about a trend in fashion called “dopamine dressing” and how it is trickling down to interiors. “Everybody loves a neutral and everybody loves a pop of color. But people right now want more color, and they want it in different ways,” reports Alex Gaston, the design director for Mark Cunningham Inc., a mainstay on the AD and Elle Decor annual top-designers lists.

Yes and yes.

Unique Gift Ideas

Shifting gears to unique gift ideas for Christmas. I’ve noticed more people in my circle are seriously into birding. How did this happen? I have no idea. Through their posts on social media, I’ve actually learned more about birds and find myself noticing them more and more when I go for walks. It’s been a fascinating development in the social activities of my friends. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

This trend is what inspired me to partner with Heather Boschke at Buddha Birdie. Together, we curated a bunch of cards featuring the most popular birds from her collection of hand illustrations. They are so cute! Ollie the Owl is my favorite. Look at that face!. A set of these cards would make excellent stationery for the birders in your circle. I know you have them! We could also customize your favorite birdie into stationery that is personalized. Just email us for more info.

You can shop the Buddha Birdie Printerette collection here.
